Thanksgiving has come and gone. How was yours?
The Thanksgiving holiday is supposed to be all about gratitude, family and friends gathered around a richly adorned table enjoying food, familial fun and congenial conversation.
Instead, this year felt different for some. The overly long 2016-election season, with its abundance of rhetorical slings and arrows unmatched in recent history, was divisive rather than cohesive. It left many feeling disconnected from family and friends, wary and afraid of what kinds of holiday conversations might unfold.
Our hope, despite all the political negativity, is that this Thanksgiving brought out feasting and joy, kindness, mutual respect, and especially appreciation for all that we are, all that we have and all that we share.
Acceptance of differences – even if those differences never surface in conversation – is likely more challenging to achieve. Open hearts and open minds help.
Whatever our beliefs, remember the ‘ties that bind’ – family, shared history, love and compassion for one another, basic understanding at the least.
Always let kindness guide you and your thoughts, words and actions.
But stay strong in your beliefs! Make sure that those you love, and those who’ll come behind, know you, understand and appreciate who you are, what you believe and what you stand for. Hold your values dear, save and share them with future generations. An Ethical Will or a Legacy Letter on video is a perfect way to do this.
What is an Ethical Will or Legacy Letter? Ask us, we’ll explain! Every Story Media can also help you produce an Ethical Will on video for yourself, your family or other loved ones.
Make sure your beliefs are captured and preserved for your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and/or close friends. Ensure that your voice and your values are heard and will continue to be heard forever, generations into the future.
Remember, there’s no time like the present to save and share the past. Record your thoughts and feelings while they’re still fresh, and of course before they're lost to time. Preserving stories, values, traditions and life lessons on video is one of the best gifts you can give to those you love.
Don't wait. Make the commitment today.
